2008 E.C. Glass High School
Visual Performance Ensemble Handbook
Organization:
Combining theater, dance, and the joy of performance, with the cornerstone of equipment spinning and flying through the air, the Visual Performance Ensemble is a competitive team at E.C. Glass.
Membership Eligibility:
The E.C. Glass Visual Performance Ensemble is open to all students who attend Linkhorne Middle School, Dunbar Middle School, and E.C. Glass High School. The director reserves the right to deny participation to any students that have missed rehearsals during the previous season, have displayed a poor attitude at any time, or are past due on any membership fees. Alternates may be selected that are responsible for knowing the entire show.
Any restriction to your physical ability should be brought to the attention of the staff as soon as possible. All of the following are common physical tasks you will be asked to perform this season:
-Lifting other members
-Heavy aerobic exercise, including running, jumping, leaping, turning
-Bending over
-Going down onto your knees
-Releasing and catching equipment
-Rolling into and out of the ground
-Physically moving props and equipment
Students who do not fulfill their responsibilities as a member of the ECG Visual Performance Ensemble will be written out of the show for the rest of the season, without a refund of membership dues.
Time Responsibilities:
All interested students are required to attend ALL rehearsals. Rehearsals will take place at the Linkhorne Middle School gym every Monday and Thursday from 6-8pm beginning on December 3 and going through April 5. A detailed calendar is attached. Please see the attached schedule before committing to the ECG Visual Performance Ensemble.
The ECG Visual Performance Ensemble will perform in 3 competitions in the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA). These competitions take place on Saturdays and usually last all day. Please check the attached schedule as all performances are mandatory.
Members are expected to arrive 10 -15 minutes before the start of rehearsal IN PRACTICE CLOTHES. This ensures practice can begin and end promptly. Attendance will be taken and monitored for the duration of the season. Sickness requires a doctor’s note and a PHONE CALL to Ms. Vogel letting us know you will not be attending rehearsal.
Financial Responsibilities:
Dues $100 This fee covers the cost of choreography, contest entry fees, and charter bus rental.
Equipment Rental $25 This fee covers the repair and maintenance of school-owned flags, poles, props, and equipment bags. Students who paid this in the fall do NOT have to pay it again.
All checks should be made payable to ECG Band Boosters. All fees are due by January 7.

Parent Support and Responsibilities:
The participation of your child in this program will hopefully prove to be not only rewarding for your child but for you, the parents and guardians, as well. Please help us in establishing the proper attitude toward the Visual Performance Ensemble at home. Also, support what your child is doing by attending regular performances of the ensemble and encouraging your child to practice at home.
The Band Parents Association is another great way to
get involved with your child’s activity. Their purpose is to boost the
overall program through fundraising and other means of support so that our
students can have the best experience possible in this activity. The main
fundraiser for all EC Glass Band Ensembles is Bingo. Please see a member of
the Band Parents Association for more information about meetings and
membership. You can also visit the BPA website at www.ecglassband.org
for more information, including contact information for the different board
members.
